For Julia, wildlife
filmmaking and presenting wildlife information is well and truly in her
blood. Born in Devon, England
to BBC wildlife filmmaker parents meant that she grew up within the wildlife
television industry and was completely immersed in wildlife and its portrayal
to people from a very young age. Julia now resides in Australia with her
partner, Martin Cohen, and has already developed a love affair with its wildlife.
She is very likeable and people and wildlife warm to her instantly.

Background
While growing up Julia travelled with her parents on their numerous filming
trips and wildlife expeditions to exotic locations such as East Africa.
While in the field Julia learnt all about wildlife filming in front of
and behind the camera. In her spare time she hand reared all types of weird
and wonderful wildlife.
Over the last seven years Julia completed an honours degree in broadcasting
studies, travelled extensively and followed in her parent’s footsteps
by working as a researcher on many successful and popular wildlife programs.
More recently Julia travelled to Australia to work in a tropical research
centre. While there the ABC Natural History Unit recognised her skills and
experience, employing her to work as researcher on several series and then
onto the biggest wildlife series ever undertaken in Australia – the
BBC/ABC Natural History Unit’s landmark ‘Wild Down Under’/’Wild
Australasia’. While working on this series Julia travelled
to all parts of Australia filming wildlife. More recently Julia has worked
on the hugely
successful BBC Natural History Unit’s 2004 live broadcast of ‘Britain
Goes Wild’.
